Want to Learn a Fast, Easy, Fun Way To Memorize Scripture?

Check out the latest video on the CatchForChrist.net YouTube channel! After about 15 months of using a progressively perfected, systematic method that has bore much fruit, I felt that I should try to make a tutorial for the sake of others. In my mind, it would be selfish for me to keep this to myself. For each of us should use whatever gifts we have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms (1 Pet 4:10).

Why should followers of Christ strive to memorize the word of God? That is a question that probably deserves its own post. But, briefly, the words of God are to be on the doorposts and gates of our houses, in our hearts, and on our lips no matter the time of day (Dt 6:5-9). Blessed is the one who meditates on the law of the LORD day and night (Psalm 1:1-3, Psalm 119:97). For God’s Word is the sword of the Spirit (Eph 6:17) — sharper than any double-edged sword — which judges the thoughts and attitude of the heart (Heb 4:12). We should hide God’s Word in our hearts, that we might not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11)…

Discernment: perhaps the primary reason to memorize Scripture. Scripture is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path (Psalm 119:105) by which God can order our steps (Psalm 119:133). And, our knowledge of the truth found in God’s word leads to godliness (Ti 1:1-3). So, as Paul prayed, I pray that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best (Php 1:9-11).
