This intriguing account, structured chiastically, tells how God disinherits and scatters peoples across the earth and assigned members of His divine council to govern each nation (cf. Dt 32:8-9, ESV) — before taking Israel as His special inheritance (cf. the Call of Abraham in Genesis 12f.) to establish His Kingdom.
All that glitters ain’t gold. Things are not always as they seem. When reading the account of Abram and Lot, we find an example of how self-interest can lead to fleeting fool’s gold, while godly selflessness can lead to everlasting abundance.

The account of Enoch teaches us that an abundance of days is good, but an abundant life with God is better. It’s less about quantity of days and more about quality of days. And days spent metaphorically walking with God are without equal. Walking obediently by faith (cf. Heb 11:5) can lead to one (ultimately) escaping death and having life in communion with God (cf. Jn 3:16)…
After the “uncreation” of the Flood, God graciously reaffirms the original blessings of Creation to Noah and his family in a sort of “re-creation”. Since all are sons — descendants — of Noah, the repeated blessing to be fruitful and increase in number and to fill the Earth (contrary to that of the Atrahasis Epic) applies to all of humanity.
We need not fear alleged incompatibilities between science and the creation accounts in Genesis — when properly interpreted. On the contrary, science provides some of the best evidence for active trust in God. Read more about the cosmological argument…
