18 וְהַ֤ר סִינַי֙ עָשַׁ֣ן כֻּלֹּ֔ו מִ֠פְּנֵי אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָרַ֥ד עָלָ֛יו יְהוָ֖ה בָּאֵ֑שׁ וַיַּ֤עַל עֲשָׁנוֹ֙ כְּעֶ֣שֶׁן הַכִּבְשָׁ֔ן וַיֶּחֱרַ֥ד כָּל־הָהָ֖ר מְאֹֽד׃1

18 Mount Sinai was covered with smoke, because the LORD descended on it in fire. The smoke billowed up from it like smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled violently.2

Now Mount Sinai was enveloped completely in smoke because the LORD descended on it in fire. Smoke ascended about it like the smoke from a furnace, and the whole mountain trembled greatly.
