“New Passover: The Lord, The Lamb” | Mark 14:12-26 Bible Study

In the Old Passover, Jews would commemorate the LORD’s salvation from sinful masters (Ex 12:7f.; Dt 16:5f.).

In the New Passover, Christians should commemorate the LORD’s salvation from the mastery of sin.

Communion is to be a commemoration of the Lord’s salvation — forgiveness of sins through the prophesied new covenant (cf. Jer 31:31-34; Mt 26:28; Lk 22:20; 1 Cor 11:25).

You see, as sacrificial blood sealed the old covenant at Sinai (Ex 24:8); sacrificial blood sealed the new covenant at Calvary (where Christ was crucified).

The new covenant is established by the blood of Jesus — the prophesied Messiah, Son of Man, and Suffering Servant – by the blood that was poured out for many (Mk 14:23-24; cf. Is 53:11).
