“Not So Fast! Not Reforming, Transforming!” | Mark 2:21-22 Bible Study

First streamed 8.31.22. First posted 9.19.22.

Metaphorically, Jesus — the prophesied Bridegroom (Mk 2:19-20) — says it’s inappropriate to fast during the wedding feast.

It’s inappropriate to put a new patch on an old garment. It’s inappropriate to put new (newly fermenting) wine into an old wineskin.

Christ did not come to merely to patch up the old covenant, but to bring the new clothes of the new covenant.

The prophesied Bridegroom did not come to merely renew the vows of the old marriage, but to make new vows under the new marriage.

Jesus did not come merely refill the old covenant, but to fulfill the old covenant.
