When some were doubting the resurrection of the dead, Paul reminds the members of the church in Corinth that he founded about the facts. Paul uses both subjective and objective evidence to address their doubts. And after considering the objective historical evidence that modern scholars of all stripes agree upon, the best explanation of the “minimal facts” is that Christ indeed was raised from the dead.

What are we training for? Are we training ourselves to be worldly, or are we training ourselves to be godly? Are we training ourselves to resemble the culture, or are we training ourselves to resemble the Christ? Do we have a healthy spiritual diet and exercise routine? In short, are we Cross Training?

Spiritual gifts are for the present; love is everlasting. Paul tells the competitive Corinthians to act in “age-appropriate” ways. Not only are spiritual gifts useless without love, spiritual gifts are only appropriate for this age. On the other hand, love is the virtue of supreme value in both this age and the age to come.
