Is Objective Morality Possible Without God?

Is Objective Morality Possible Without God?

If we affirm that there are at least some objective moral laws (beyond our subjective opinions), the most reasonable conclusion is to believe that there is some sort of Moral Lawgiver. This does not mean that atheists are incapable of being “good.” It means that, if atheism were true (as many atheists admit), nothing would be (objectively) good (or bad).

Scientists have discovered that there are numerous finely-tuned constants and quantities observed in the universe that have to be just right for there to be any life at all. The chances of all of these fine-tuned constants being just right to allow for life on Earth have been calculated to 1 in 10^138. There appear to be only three possible explanations: (1) Necessity, (2) Chance, and (3) Design. Design seems to be, by far, the most reasonable explanation…

Peter tells us not to fear people, but to revere Christ. We are to always be ready to make a reasonable defense for our faith – a defense I believe is more convincing when supported not only with personally subjective reasons, but objectively evidential reasons. And we are to do this gently, out of reverence to God.

Is there enough evidence to convict Jesus of being the Son of God? After his wife converted, Yale Law School alum, Chicago Tribune legal journalist, and former atheist Lee Strobel set out to disprove Christianity. After a two-year investigation into the evidence, Strobel came to Christ and became one of the most world-renowned Christian apologists…

‘Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus’ takes readers on the captivating spiritual journey of a devout Muslim apologist, the late Nabeel Qureshi (M.D.) — a former critic who became a Christian apologist after examining the evidence critically.

Reading Qureshi’s book was not only incredibly informative concerning responses to common Islamic counterclaims (e.g., “the Bible has been corrupted”, etc.), but also concerning the incredibly high stakes for almost any Muslim who converts.

In this important work, Dr. Paul Copan responds to charges by the “New Atheists” who claim that God in the Old Testament is genocidal, misogynistic, racist, bloodthirsty, homophobic, etc. Reading biblical passages in context — and comparing Old Testament biblical principles with that of its ancient Near Eastern contemporaries — is incredibly illuminating…

People often think true “faith” = “blind faith” — and the blinder the better. And, I sometimes hear people claim that apologetics (making a defense) is unnecessary (e.g., “You can’t argue someone into Heaven!”). Wallace addresses this poor reasoning head on. In our increasingly secular society, he argues that now, more than ever, believers should have a more evidential faith. And, we have good reason to believe that we have the evidence to make our case.

What is the most plausible explanation of the Origins of the Universe, the Appearance of Design of the Universe, the Origins of Life, Objective Moral Values and Duties, Free Will, Consciousness, and the Existence of “Evil?” Employing his honed investigative skills, J. Warner Wallace — a former atheist, former cold case homicide detective and current adjunct professor at Biola University — argues that it is theism.
